The complete P.O.S.T record of Bob Godley. The former cop that thinks the whole county owes him an apology for his bad behavior.

There is a new blogger in town, who is also upset with this school system. Thank you Paul for standing up for what is right, and not backing down to the ESTABLISHMENT.

Saving Dennis Perry

My letter to the Governor:

I want to thank you and say God bless you for what you are trying to do for Dennis. A lot of people know that Dennis did NOT have a fair trial because of incompetency and sloppy police work on the part of the CCSO and the idiots that were assigned to his case. But, I just want everyone to know that the Innocence Project believes in this man and eventually, he WILL have his day in court. The sad thing is..in the meantime, he has lost almost 8 years of his life, along with his home, his business, his wife!! And, I hope that the law enforcement officers that were instrumental in causing that will one day have to pay and pay dearly!!

I want to thank everyone for believing in Dennis Perry. I also want to thank his mom for continuing the process and keeping this vigil alive, we have all had many sleepless nights, and none so more than Dennis has. My heart is there for you Dennis and always will be. There is never a day that goes by that I don't think about you. Although we are not together in marraige anymore, my love for you will never die. You are coming home soon. May God steer the Govenor in the right direction for setting a man free who was wrongfully accused. Karen Perry

My prayers are with Dennis, his mom, my dear friend Karen. It has been difficult to deal with this injustice and I deeply hope Dennis is able to have a new trial and be free at last. We can only think of the future now and what lies ahead.
Dennis sent me a kind letter and drew a beautiful picture on it. He spoke of kindness and has love in his heart. Keep up the hope Dennis.
Love to all,
Theresa

Why in the world did he plea guilty, if he was innocent? I am not being negative, I am not familiar with the case. I am just wondering why did he plea guilty?I have never known a court to reopen a case if the person pled guilty to the crime.

He didn't plead guilty. He was offered plea after plea after plea all thru the 3 and a half years before he was tried. He refused all of them because he would have had to plead guilty.Even tho his attorneys tried to push him into it by telling him if he didn't take the plea he was going to die a horrible death because that's what John Johnson was asking for.The man is honest and told them he couldn't tell them something that wasn't true...even facing death!!
After the trial was over, the family of the victims spoke to the DA and asked him to offer him life without appeals in exchange for the death penalty. At that point, Dennis was in shock, which is understandable, and was just going thru the motions and doing what his atty's. told him to do. As a matter of fact, the atty's. didn't even have the guts to face his family and slipped out of the courtroom and hasn't been in touch with them since. If you want to know more..go to Ga. Times-Union and read the archives in Jan-2000.

He did not plea guilty. He was convicted by a jury Smith got too. That is why they kept Smith away from the Chua jury.

After being found guilty he took a plea deal to prevent the death penalty. It was a poor choice, but put in that spot, I probably would have taken it as well. Dead men never get an appeal. But the plea deal was life and no chance at appeal.

If the State thinks it was right and the jury was right they should not have any problems with a new trial.

If you could have been there and seen how Bill Smith tried to influence witnesses AND the jury, you would have a clearer picture of the way things were handled in this case. He was there and at one point Williams made him leave the courtroom. They even tried to make an in court identification by the witnesses and they couldn't identify him. When this crime first happened, the witnesses all gave conflicting statements. But, strangely enough, 18 years later, they were all very sure that Dennis was the one they had seen in the church. What's wrong with this picture? Especially when the original GBI agent had cleared Dennis from the very first. And then when it went to trial, Bill Smith had conveniently 'lost' all the evidence. The GBI agent testified in Dennis' defense in the trial telling them that he had been at work in Atlanta and couldn't possibly have been there. Not only was all the evidence lost..also the files of the GBI CLEARING Dennis. But, that's what a crooked sherriff does. Also, it was election year and he had to have something to put him over the top. So, why not make it solving an 18 year old crime? And doing what you have to do to insure that?

You can also get more information by going to archives in 2003 and reading the media's accounts of his trial. It may be good to know, too, that the lead investigator in the case threatened the reporter with losing his job over the way he reported it in the paper. Now, why would Bundy do that? Unless SOMETHING was wrong?

OK, I see. I remember the case now, I was thinking he just plead guilty, now that Rick posted this stuff I see, Wow very interesting. You can plea, but with no appeal. If it was such a great case, then why worry about an appeal. I work in the justice system, and know sometimes justice is wrong, but as in the chua case, justice was served. Wow I dide not realize the DA came up with this kinda of deal after the jury found him guilty. This is news to me. I bet the retired GBI agent thinks about this case all the time.

I agree with you Roxie..If you ain't scared of another trial..say you ain't scared and let's get on with it!!

The reason the DA came up with this deal was because this case was sooo bad, they didn't want any repercussions from it.

Smith and Johnson were very worried about an appeal. They knew if it was appealed that the Supreme Court would throw it out!! AND HOW STUPID WOULD THAT MAKE THEM LOOK? So, they figured out a way to just bury Dennis in the system and have him forgotten about. I got news for them......HE WON'T BE FORGOTTEN ABOUT!!!!!!!

I just spoke with a lady that had called Judge Williams number to ask for Dennis Perry's plea be thrown out and to grant him a new trial. Guess what? As soon as Dennis' name was mentioned, the secretary or whoever she was got very cold and told the lady she would have to send the judge a fax or write her a letter. AND THEN SHE WOULDN'T GIVE HER THE FAX NUMBER!! She was told she would have to write a letter..which the lady has done. Does that tell you there is something wrong with this case? You people in Camden County better wake up and smell the roses before you find yourself in the same position that Dennis is in. He isn't asking to be released. Just for a FAIR trial!!
