Cano was fired for showing a video that included sex scenes and a racial slur without submitting it to the media committee. In addition to the video issue, there were a number of student complaints about her classroom conduct over the years and those complaints were validated.She appealed. They had a public hearing in public meeting. YOu weren't there, but it was announced and it was held even though you were unaware of it.The board members saw the questionable scenes that show full nudity in the scenes. this type of material would have NEVER been approved by the committee that Cano neglected to submit the movie to before showing to minors in a publicly funded classroom as she knew she was required to do.The difference between ethical and unethical - or a mistake - is that little "knowing" part. Try researching... oh, but that might lead to facts, and based on everything I've ever read that you write you push anything that suits you without any researching to the mouths are just watering for another assumption based conspiracy.I'm not a school board fan, just an informed citizen who believes that misinformation like what you seem to perpetuate lessens the voice of truth in the event of a Real injustice - the kind that happen in reality.

TRSP Review: The facts are what I was looking for, as the school refuses to post them. Not one person I have spoken to knew anything about this. Including some teachers. Take a look at the agenda for your so called "public hearing"

We are supposed to know whats going on by this half ass agenda, it tells us nothing. We need a clear understanding of what is going on in our schools.

If a student turned in a paper that looked like this, they would get an F.

Thanks for providing the facts. But this was not a properly advertised meeting, hearing, or whatever you want to call it.

Meeting Minutes
The Camden County Board of Education met in a Called Meeting on Wednesday, May 27, 2009,
at 12:30 p.m. in Conference Room 132-133 at the Administrative Offices, 311 South East
Street.
I. CALL TO ORDER - Chairperson, Herbert Rowland
II. ADOPTION OF AGENDA - School Board
A motion was made and seconded to adopt the agenda as presented by the
superintendent.
Motion made by: Randy Lee
Motion seconded by: James W. Coffel
Voting
Unanimously Approved
III. ADMINISTRATIVE HEARING TO DETERMINE A PERSONNEL MATTER
An Administrative Hearing was held to determine the continued employment of Ercilia
G. Cano, a teacher at Camden County High School. Andrew Taylor, attorney for the
school system, presided over the Hearing with Attorney Brian Smith presenting the
school system. Dr. John Tucker, Principal of Camden County High School, Ms.
Barbara Hall, Assistant Principal of Camden County High School, and Dr. Will Hardin,
Superintendent, were witnesses for the school system. Ms. Ercilia G. Cano was
present and chose to have no representation on her behalf.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Randy Lee made a motion to go into Executive Session at 3:30 p.m. Jimmy Coffel
seconded the motion and all voted in favor ot it. The Board recovened at 3:40 p.m.
with Chairman Herbert Rowland entertaining a motion to approve the
recommendation of the superintendent to terminate Ms. Ercilia G. Cano. Randy Lee
made a motion to approve the recommendation of the Superintendent with Jimmy
Coffel seconding the motion. All voted in favor of the motion.
IV. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
