The Godley Files

The complete P.O.S.T record of Bob Godley. The former cop that thinks the whole county owes him an apology for his bad behavior.

There is a new blogger in town, who is also upset with this school system. Thank you Paul for standing up for what is right, and not backing down to the ESTABLISHMENT.

Stop The Sheriff, Before He Bankrupts The County

This was a post I made back on August 30, 2007.

amazing how things come true!!!!

Dear Commissioners,

You must ask the Georgia Sheriff's Association to ask the Governor to appoint a panel to investigate our Sheriff. He is attempting to BANKRUPT our county. He is having budget problems and yet continues to hire new people. It has been brought to my attention that Mr. Smith has hire St. Mary's councilman L.J. Williams. Why? What was the Sheriff's Office missing that they needed to hire more people? Or are the taxpayers paying for more political reasons.

He continues to spend, spend and spend, and he was over budget last year. Do you really think he cares how much he goes over this year? We need to have him removed from office for the sake of the county finances. The taxpayers should not be held responsible for a renegade Sheriff.

But if you don't take action it will cost us, the taxpayers.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Bill Smith is a high ranking office within the Ga. Sheriff's Association. Don't think you will get much help there.

Sorry that was supposed to read "High Ranking Officer"

Just heard on the radio that "Smith" gave Georgia State Univ.
$100,000.00 yesterday from the seized drug money to set up a scholarship.

Anyone have any details ??

I read the different viewpoints. Steve Berry may be a good attorney but as a comissioner challenging the sheriff he is a light weight. The sheriff did not start all of this, Berry did. Berry wants to play hard ball. The sheriff can too. What Steve Berry does not understand is that his inquiries only show what happens when the sheriff follows the rules. He doesn't have to do this and that. so since Mr berry wants to challenge the system, so it shall be. Berry should have approved the budget. As a result of all Berry's actions, we will loose. Not because of the sheriff but Steve Berry. He started it.

Sir, or madam, I'll resist the temptation to ask you the same question.

No one on the county commission has, at any time, suggested that the funds could - or should - be spent for anything but law enforcement needs. What they are saying is that the funds are being spent for damned nearly everything BUT law enforcement needs, in clear and willful violation, by Sherifff Smith, of both the federal and state laws governing - in very precise language - how the funds SHALL be spent.

Marion,

You never cease to amaze me: just when I think your pitiable attempts to defend the indefensible can't get any more assinine, you surpass yourself.

How about if we change your last two sentences to read, "Not because of Al Capone but Elliot Ness. He started it.

Don't be so surprised. Your unique style of maudlin, sycophantic, old church lady's toadying crap is so silly as to be instantly recognizable where ever you turn up.

Bankrupt the County? It's not County money, when are you people gonna get it! That freakin money that was caught going down 95 through our county by hard working well trained deputy sheriff's. It can only be spent by law enforcement,(THSE SHERIFF) not by the county, landfill, tax office, DA's office or Steve Berry. How damn stupid are you!!!

RESPONSE:
Siezed asset monies can only be used for one year to fund an individual employed by the Sheriff's Office (usually drug agents of the undercover type - or in this case another councilman WHY?) or to supplement overtime for a period of time for current employess. After that period of time - guess who picks up the bill? The commissioners, or as I see it - us, the taxpayers and you. (But yeah, you're right - we're stupid - guess you failed to educate yourself before making yourself look stupid.)

I just spoke with a lady that had called Judge Williams number to ask for Dennis Perry's plea be thrown out and to grant him a new trial. Guess what? As soon as Dennis' name was mentioned, the secretary or whoever she was got very cold and told the lady she would have to send the judge a fax or write her a letter. AND THEN SHE WOULDN'T GIVE HER THE FAX NUMBER!! She was told she would have to write a letter..which the lady has done. Does that tell you there is something wrong with this case? You people in Camden County better wake up and smell the roses before you find yourself in the same position that Dennis is in. He isn't asking to be released. Just for a FAIR trial!!
