There is a new blogger in town, who is also upset with this school system. Thank you Paul for standing up for what is right, and not backing down to the ESTABLISHMENT.

Simple File Clerk Says A Mouthful, While Driving Around In County Car!

From The Florida Times-Union
September 17, 2008
Camden County deputies ordered to take 5 days off
By Gordon Jackson, The Times-Union
WOODBINE - The ongoing budget constraints imposed on Camden County Sheriff's Office are now hitting deputies where it hurts - in their paychecks. To meet the October payroll, which has three pay periods, outgoing Sheriff Bill Smith is requiring all employees, including management, to take five days off without pay.
County Commissioner Charlene Sears, who is also a Sheriff's Office employee, said some deputies, jailers, bailiffs, supervisors and other staff are taking one or two days off at a time until they accumulate five days off. The other option, she said, was to fire employees. Sears said she took her five days off without pay last week.
"It's really bad," Sears said. "There's really no relief for us."
At least one person is working on some relief.
A White Oak man is so concerned over the deputies' loss of pay that he has established a special account at a local bank to funnel donations to deputies to help them buy Christmas gifts.
Tripp Casey said he set up the account at Southeastern Bank last week after learning of the forced days off.
"They are already underpaid," Casey said. "They are really concerned. They're not getting anything."
Casey said his goal is to raise $10,000 to donate to deputies so they can afford to buy Christmas gifts. Donations can be made to the Deputy Christmas Fund at any Southeastern Bank location in Camden, Glynn, McIntosh or Nassau counties, Casey said.
Sears said she was happy some people in the community understand and sympathize with the financial struggles with the department.
"It's so wonderful," she said of the account. "It's so hurtful to know we can't pay deputies what they're worth."
The forced days off without pay are the result of the County Commission slashing the department's budget for the second year in a row. After Smith spent more than $9 million two years ago, commissioners voted to cut his budget to $6 million instead of raising taxes.
They criticized Smith for issuing county cars to department employees such as record clerks, mechanics, secretaries, jailers and bailiffs. They were also upset after learning money from the jail budget was used to buy quiche, tiki torches, steaks, Boston butts, cheesecake and ice cream.
The commission voted to dole out the money in monthly increments to ensure the department would not overspend.
Commissioner Steve Berry, a critic of the sheriff, who recently lost his bid for re-election, said the forced days off "sound like a dog and pony show." Problems with the budget should have been addressed two years ago, he said.
"I haven't heard anybody say 'Let's park the cars,'" he said. "They're not going to give up their perks."
But Sears said the department has been doing lots of cutting, including eliminating hot breakfasts for jail inmates, recycling deputies' uniforms instead of buying new ones, withholding pay raises and reducing travel.
"You cannot run on $6 million," she said. "There's no logic in it. They are hurting people at the bottom."

Reviewing the RED:

How do we know this? Since Nov. the Sheriff has not turned in expense any reports. Charlene, if you want to do more turn your car in. Brantley Counties Sheriff's budget is less than 2 million, Why is ours so much?

They are hurting people at the bottom.

Charlene, Your a simple file clerk, why aren't you hurting? Would you suggest doing away with Bill's NAVY. Selling our boats to amke payroll. Of course not. Because your husband is part of the top brass making much more than the bottom people. I bet they love that a county commissioner calls them bottom people.

More to come...

Charlene Sears is a 2 face BITCH and talks out of both sies of her mouth. She will need to prove she lost any pay from taking time off before I believe what she has to say. Park the cars that are the perks for the selected few and the payroll could be made.
All of this is total B.S., if the hog farmer turned in payroll for the employees the commissioners have no choice but to pay them. BILL SMITH IS A WASTE OF TAX PAYERS MONEY. HE needs to GIVE IT UP and WALK AWAY. Or the FEDS need to come and get his a$$. I want to see him and Charlie and the other top brass give up a paycheck. We will not see that until after Tommy terminates them. January 2009 can't come soon enought for us to see the $hit flushed at the CCSO.

Charline and Willie need to get the heck out of Woodbine, Most of the fleet of boats should be auction off, excess vechicles turned back in, do away with the cellphones, then there would be plenty of monies to make payroll.restructure the Department, give the priviledge few a choice, reduction in rank and pay or go somewhere else, hes still an at will employer, but no that won't happen, he's gonna sink the ship, and Tommy will have to raise it back up from the dirty waters it has sunk in. I've seen some sore losers in my time, but the hog sloper is the top one.

The sheriff Randal has been allowed to give herself extra $ in her ckecks. I heard that rob and ms sears were arguing really loud at the old courthouse the other day about it. I asked a friend across the street, she said that Randal was saying sears took money from her check and was gonna sue sears but I heard that sears saw what was going on and tryed to fix it but rob won't let her. She got mad, sid some stuff and left the building. Randal has been taking leave over her hrs to make a big check for awhile and nobody even cares. Where my friend has to make peanuts compared to her and almost lost her place because she had to go without a weeks pay. No one get to sell our leave how does she get to do this? I can't find any policy for it. I bet sears gets fired soon for messin with the sheriffs secretary. I wish i could call her and get the whole story but I can't. rick check this out and give us the real story.

That doesn't surprise me. I'll tell you another one milking the county and that's Kelly the Records Clerk. She's never at work, never. Call up there every day for a week and see if you can ever reach her. Then go drive by Tangled Threads (I hear she works there or owns it or something) and see how many days a week she's there. Then make an open records request for her timesheets, I guarantee she's claiming 40 hours a week at least! I also guarantee you she's still gassing up her personal car out back of the SO. I guess since she knows she won't have a job in January she's trying to pad her bank account before she leaves.

"The Harem" at odds...... Bill you let her do it! Why is she allowed to do it and not me? Am I no longer worthy of perks? You always told me I was your favorite.

I just spoke with a lady that had called Judge Williams number to ask for Dennis Perry's plea be thrown out and to grant him a new trial. Guess what? As soon as Dennis' name was mentioned, the secretary or whoever she was got very cold and told the lady she would have to send the judge a fax or write her a letter. AND THEN SHE WOULDN'T GIVE HER THE FAX NUMBER!! She was told she would have to write a letter..which the lady has done. Does that tell you there is something wrong with this case? You people in Camden County better wake up and smell the roses before you find yourself in the same position that Dennis is in. He isn't asking to be released. Just for a FAIR trial!!
